This introductory hands-on workshop will cover the cultivation of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. The day will be split between two cultivation methods - mushrooms on logs and oyster mushrooms on straw. The first portion will cover the basics of log selection, inoculation, incubation and fruiting of a wide variety of mushrooms including Shiitake, Oyster, Lion's Mane, Comb Tooth, Nameko, and more. The second portion will focus on substrate selection, treatment methods, growing requirements and the best management practices for optimal production of oyster mushrooms indoors.
Each participant will inoculate their own shiitake log and oyster straw bag to take home with them. Coffee, bakery in the morning, and lunch is included. Registration required by Feb. 10. No refunds for cancellations after Feb. 11. Class limit: 25.
