King Oyster
Pleurotus eryngii
This sexy species is different than many others in the Pleurotus group in that the stem is entirely edible and is in fact, superlative. The King Oyster's fat, dense stems can be sliced into coin shaped pieces and cooked until crispy. The smaller caps are lighter and crunchy when sautéed. It is a more difficult mushroom to grow as it prefers sterilized, supplemented sawdust as a substrate and cool fruiting temps (instructions are not included with this spawn - in purchasing this spawn species, we assume purchaser is familiar with the particular, involved intricacies in growing it). Fruiting temperature: 55-65° F. Spawn available in grain spawn only.
