Classes are taught by the experienced staff of F&FP. Classes provide stand-alone information but are beneficial as a set (you may register for a single class, or register for both and receive a 10% discount). There will be an after-class happy hour at the Field & Forest Products spawn facility for informal discussion, questions, and the opportunity to get to know fellow mycophiles. The happy hour is open to attendees of both classes.

January 13Sawdust Block Production for Indoor Mushroom Growing9 am - 5 pm
Growing mushrooms on sawdust is broadly a two-step process: knowing how to make a block and then knowing how to fruit it. Join us for a day to learn the basics of selecting the correct substrate mix, selecting the proper filter patch bag and container, block inoculation, incubation, and fruiting specifics of each mushroom species. This hands-on workshop will cover what you need to know to produce mushroom blocks of Shiitake, Oyster, Lionís Mane, Comb Tooth, Reishi, King Oyster, Maitake and other block varieties. The class includes troubleshooting sessions addressing problems with the finished block, disease and insect suppression in the fruiting room, and more for the organic grower.
Class includes coffee and bakery, lunch, comprehensive handouts, a sampler of filter patch bags and a ready to fruit block to take home. There will be an after-class happy hour for attendees of both classes at the Field & Forest Products spawn facility on the 12th for informal discussion, questions, and the opportunity to get to know fellow mycophiles.Registration required by Jan. 6. No refunds for cancellations after Jan. 7. Class limit: 20.
